Tree Cabling & Bracing
Tree cabling and bracing uses specialist techniques and products to support your tree or individual limbs which may have sustained damage or have weaknesses which require a little extra help. This is a good way to make sure your tree remains healthy, and reduces the risk of damage to the tree, no matter what the weather throws at us. Our team of professional contractors can help you assess any trees on your property to see if they would benefit from bracing or cabling. Get in touch to learn more.
When do I need tree cabling or bracing?
The experienced team at Tree Service Pros of Meridian can use tree cabling and bracing to support your tree if it has sustained minor storm damage, or if there are weak limbs which may not stand up to the weather. Using steel cables, we can help the tree to support itself better, so it remains healthy and your home is protected. We can also use bracing for young trees which need a little help to stay upright. It’s not always easy to see where tree cabling is needed, as you need to be able to spot areas of potential weakness in your tree. Call in the team for help if you’re unsure and want an expert opinion on your tree.
Can I brace a leaning tree?
Perfectly healthy trees which lean to one side are common. This is because trees may grow towards the sunlight or may lean due to the prevailing direction of the wind. As trees grow slowly, their root system will adapt to support the lean, but there may come a point when this lean causes weakness. If you have a tree which has started to lean, and you’re concerned about keeping it safe and upright, we may be able to support it with bracing. Get in touch for a chat and we can arrange a home visit to assess the options available.
Can I brace my tree myself?
If you have a tree in your back yard which has been damaged or is growing in such a way that cabling may be necessary, you may be tempted to have a go by yourself. With a small tree you might be able to offer some support with a homemade brace. However, bracing or cabling a tree wrongly can actually cause damage - too tight and it’ll damage the wood fibres, and too loose and it won’t serve any purpose. And of course, if you’ll need to work at height to brace your tree, it’s not worth risking it yourself. Call in a professional for help to keep you and your tree safe.
